GoodWork x PUBLIC - new partnership!

We’re excited to share our brand new partnership with PUBLIC!

GoodWork are recruiting young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds for this year’s GovTech camp, supporting our shared mission of making great entry level roles accessible to underrepresented groups.

PUBLIC is a digital transformation partner committed to helping the public sector turn innovative ideas into practical solutions. They support organisations such as the MoD, NHS and National Grid through their full suite of services, delivering strategic advising, learning and digital upskilling programmes, digital product delivery and policy monitoring and evaluation.

Their GovTech Camp is a 10 week paid internship programme, that gives interns the chance to transform public services through digital innovation whilst working alongside experts and decision-makers.

The Internship involves:

  • Working with experts - interns will be an integral part of PUBLIC's teams, supporting on various key projects and contributing their unique perspective.

  • Project variety - interns will gain hands-on experience in areas such as operational programme delivery, policy assessment, user research, and campaign development.

  • Learning and development - interns will receive regular feedback and experiential learning opportunities.

  • Immediate impact - interns are thrown directly into the day to day work of PUBLIC and encouraged to weigh in on new ideas and key decisions.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with PUBLIC on the recruitment process, to ensure the role reaches young people who often miss out on these kind of opportunities, due to a lack of network and support.

Recent research by The Sutton Trust shows 61% of internships are unpaid or under-paid, making them completely inaccessible to those from lower-socioeconomic backgrounds. So whilst we continue advocating for this to change, it’s vital that opportunities like this one reach those that need it.

If you, or someone you know is from a lower socio-economic background, and looking for an exciting early careers opportunity in the tech sector; check out the role here! Applications close 9th Feb.
