Welcoming Cohort 4!

The last two weeks have seen the launch of a brand new GoodWork Programme and a warm welcome to Cohort 4! We’ve had a wonderful time getting to know 25 new young people and hearing all about their dreams and aspirations. It’s been a pleasure to watch them begin their journeys, and grow throughout their first 10 days of workshops and tasks.

Here’s a rundown of what went on:

CV Clinics:

We kicked off with 2 days of CV clinics, supported by PA Consulting and our wonderful team of volunteers. They worked with our young people to give their CVs a thorough audit, helping them:

  • Get super clear on the types of roles they want to apply for

  • Pull out their transferrable skills to shine in front of employers

  • Format their CVs to look slick

Guest Workshops:

We’ve been lucky enough to have a variety of volunteer facilitators run some incredible skills workshops for our participants. Aiko led a fantastic session on Communication, working on foundational skills and group accountability. Yetunde helped our teams ‘Build a Business Case’, teaching them all about innovation and commercial awareness for their upcoming project work. And finally, Emily got them prepped for their client pitches with a super engaging Presentation and Storytelling workshop. So many wonderful tips and insights for our young people to take away!

Skills Builder Challenge

We rounded off induction with our infamous Skills Builder Challenges - this time with an extra edge! Our teams of young people were matched with volunteers from our Corporate Partners - AXA XL, AMS, akt health communications and PA, that acted as their real-world ‘clients’. Participants had 5 days to tackle complex, industry specific briefs set by their clients, and prepare a 15 minute presentation of their proposed solutions. From marketing campaigns, to recruitment solutions and insurance policies, we were blown away by our young people’s ideas, as they pitched to over 40 people at the final presentation event. We were thrilled to welcome our community of partners, funders and volunteers to witness this very special start to the programme!

It’s already been a pleasure to watch this cohort begin to flourish at the very start of their GoodWork journeys, and can’t wait to see where this chapter takes them. Stay tuned for updates!
